Since 2007, TROVE 167 has been quietly rooted in the creative energy of Bermondsey Street, SE1. As one of the area’s first independent concept shops, we offer a curated mix of contemporary design, antique character, folk charm, and retro edge.
Our ever-evolving collections are made to surprise and delight — objects, textiles, wearables, and pieces for the home that tell stories, stir curiosity, and reflect a sense of individuality. Whether you're searching for something soulful, stylish, or simply different, TROVE 167 is a destination for the thoughtfully unexpected.

Michael Mc Grath
Michael was born and raised in County Galway, Ireland, where his passion for design began with Lego and an early interest in architecture. He ultimately found his path in Fashion and Textile Design — a decision he’s never looked back on.
After graduating with First-Class Honours from The National College of Art & Design in 1989, his career took off in Milan as Menswear Design Assistant at KRIZIA UOMO. From there, he moved to London to join DUNHILL as Menswear RTW Designer, followed by roles at Savile Row’s GIEVES & HAWKES and BALLY in Switzerland, where he designed for both menswear and womenswear.
In 1999, BURBERRY brought Michael on as Head of Menswear for the London Collection. Over the next eight years, he played a central role in the creative reinvention of the brand’s identity — work that has since influenced many top designers.
In 2007, drawing on decades of experience, Michael co-founded TROVE 167 with Alessandro Palhares — a concept store built around carefully curated lifestyle pieces with distinctive character for Man, Woman, and Home.
Alongside TROVE 167, Michael continues to design and consult. He has served as Creative Director for an Italian furnishing textile company, collaborating with brands such as Armani Casa and B&B Italia. He is currently Creative Consultant/ Head of Design to EDE & RAVENSCROFT London's Oldest Robe makers and tailors since 1689.
Alessandro Palhares
Originally from São Paulo, Brazil, Alessandro moved to the UK in 1996 after graduating with an Honours Degree in Marketing and Advertising. What began as a temporary journey of curiosity quickly turned into a life-changing experience.
In 2007, Alessandro joined forces with Michael McGrath to co-found TROVE 167 — a concept store shaped by their shared vision and complementary talents.
With over 20 years of experience in luxury retail and brand strategy — including roles at PRADA and SALVATORE FERRAGAMO — Alessandro brings a rare combination of commercial insight and creative intuition. His sourcing abilities are second to none, fuelled by an extensive international network and an instinctive eye for the extraordinary.
Often described as a jewellery whisperer, Alessandro has an exceptional talent for discovering pieces that are not only beautiful, but deeply meaningful — refined accessories and rare jewellery that carry personal character and quiet luxury. His curation reflects both his South American roots and a global sensibility, resulting in selections that feel purposeful, rare, and unmistakably individual.
From eco-conscious objects and naturally sourced materials to standout designs by international creatives and emerging artisans, Alessandro curates with soul and precision — always in line with TROVE 167’s signature values: individuality, quality, and the thrill of the unexpected.
His mission is simple: to make every visit to TROVE 167 a journey — surprising, inspiring, and beautifully uncommon.
