Michael Mc Grath
Michael was born and grew up in County Galway, Ireland. His passion for design developed with Lego at a young age, with a firm eye on studying Architecture he later decided to enter into Fashion and Textile Design, a decision he has not looked back on.
Graduating in 1989 from The National College of Art & Design with a First-Class Honours Degree, Michael’s successful journey started in Milan - Italy as Menswear Design Assistant at Fashion House KRIZIA UOMO. Following three years in Italy he relocated to London to take DUNHILL’s Menswear RTW Designer position, later for Saville Row’s GIEVES & HAWES, and then BALLY in Switzerland where he designed for both the Men’s and Women’s collections. In 1999 BURBERRY scooped Michael’s know-how and for the following eight years working as Head Menswear Designer for the London Collection he played a leading role in the creative reinvention of the BURBERRY brand and iconography, which has been the basic inspiration for all top designers that followed since.
In 2007, Michael following his wealth of experience within the design and development world, took the decision to create his ideal concept store in partnership with Alessandro Palhares, mixing carefully curated lifestyle pieces appealing to a personal uniqueness element for MAN, WOMAN and HOME.
Michael has continued to design and consult for a select number of companies and has held position as creative director for an Italian furnishing textile company collaborating with clients such as Armani Casa and B&B Italia. Michael is currently Creative Consultant to EDE & RAVENSCROFT, tailors to the Royal Household and London's oldest tailors
since 1689.
Alessandro Palhares
Originally from São Paulo - Brazil, Alessandro travelled to the United Kingdom in 1996, after graduating with an Honours Degree in Marketing and Advertising.
What was set to be a temporary adventure to fulfil his curiosity about the world became a real life changing experience. Living in the UK since then, Alessandro gathered over 20 years experience in high end retail operations and management for brands like PRADA and SALVATORE FERRAGAMO.
In 2007, when the opportunity arose to join forces with Michael Mc Grath to create the concept store TROVE 167, he saw a chance to combine his skills and intuitive eye with inspiration focused on his South American roots to curate all sorts from around the world.
Amongst his finds, a mix of naturally sourced Eco-friendly products, best picks from international designers collections and unseen works from artists and artisans. All of it in keeping with the TROVE 167 high quality standards and service excellence.
Alessandro’s mission is to make sure every shopping visit is unique and unusually interesting.
